Nest and Hollows Inspections

Nest and Hollows Inspections Provided by Arborists in Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Lake Macquarie

At Agility Trees, we offer tree nest and hollow inspections by our qualified arborists. With so many species that live in trees, we want to make sure all trees are healthy and thriving. While some nests and hollows can do great things for the trees they live in, others are dangerous and damaging to trees. If you have any concerns about a nest on your property, please do not hesitate to contact your local arborist to inspect. We are able to identify hazardous nests and hollows and help develop an action plan if extermination is necessary.

Why would one need a nest inspection?

At Agility Trees, we are all about the complete health of trees. As there are many different types of deadly species in Australia, it is particularly important to have nest inspections done. If you are concerned about pests or other infestations on your property, you may require a nest inspection. Nests or hollows close to areas where children may be, can be considered especially hazardous. A nest inspection may also determine if a species needs to be evicted from that particular tree. In most cases, nest inspections are done to determine if white ants in trees or termite nests in trees may be present. At Agility, we can help develop a plan of action for an infested tree.

When is this a job for an arborist vs. pest control?

Typically a qualified arborist can perform a nest or hollow inspection. An arborist will be able to determine if the nest or hollow is hazardous, or is home to dangerous species. An arborist can also help develop an action plan, with the course to take if the species is determined to be dangerous. If the action plan includes eviction of the species, pest control will often carry out that plan. In many cases, it is an arboursit that will verify the problem and pest control that will act upon it.

What's involved in a nest inspection?

Our experts at Agility will visit the property, and check out the nest or hollow. They will then determine if the nest is dangerous and if the species involved needs to be evicted. A plan of action, including contact with pest control will be developed. For most nest inspections, our arborists are looking for any evidence of timber pest activity including termites and white ants. With over 300 species in Australia, termites and white ants come in many shapes and sizes. These critters can do significant damages to wood, including trees and buildings. Very often termites and white ant colonies need to be evicted by pest control.

Please contact us if you have a tree or nest on your property that seems suspicious. If you have reason to believe you may be housing a termite or white ant colony, do not wait to have a nest or hollow inspection done. Contact Agility Trees today!
