Agility Trees proudly offers Aerial Tree Assessments as part of our services to our valued clients. Sometimes aerial tree assessments can also be referred to as ATA or ATI. At Agility, we have an in-house team of qualified professionals that are able to climb trees and perform these assessments. These inspections are designed to inform clients on how to go about future management of certain trees. For more information, or to answer any questions you may have regarding these procedure, please read below.
This is an advanced method of tree assessment. An ATA involves tree climbing as means to gain a better understanding of work that may need to be done for a particular tree. This is a tree assessment method that involves inspecting aerial parts of a tree, which are not visible from basic inspection at ground level. Usually, this is a procedure that is done on large trees. In addition, this procedure is common for trees of high value in urban environments. For example, trees with veteran status, significant value, cultural value or personal value.
Equipment that can be used in an aerial tree assessment includes but is not limited to: cables, cords, pulleys, harnesses, helmets, ladders, and steps. Because aerial tree assessment often involves one climbing to the top of a tree, a safety plan also needs to be in place. All equipment needs to be in good working order. A plan for rescue and first aid kits are also required for this procedure.
As an ATA can be a bit of a process, length of time for this procedure is to be quoted upon consultation. Rope installations and safety procedures need to be done, in addition to this service. It is very important for our climbers to have proper fall protection systems in place. If an ATA is a procedure you may be interested in, please contact Agility for a quote on cost and timing.
Aerial Tree Assessments are key to understanding certain risks and structural failure for a given tree. These hazards are often situated within the upper crown of a tree, and as such, a ground based survey simply does not provide enough information. A client looking to have this service done would have an old tree of significant value on their property, with concerns about longevity of the tree. By using a service such as an aerial tree assessment, our experts at Agility can gather the information needed to maintain health and longevity of these trees. An ATA can provide clients with a map of tree positions, prescription of targeted tree work, and photographic evidence of defects within a given tree.
